'Brogue Trader' May Have Acted Alone

Officials at at Allfirst, the Allied Irish Banks' US subsidiary, confirmed Tuesday that no further staff members have been suspended following the alleged fraud of £530 million discovered earlier in the month.

Although the enquiry into the affair is still on-going, it is now believed that John Rusnak, the alleged perpetrator of the fraud, may have acted alone. Mr Rusnak continues to protest his innocence.

AIB recently announced the appointment of an independent expert, Eugene A Ludwig, to direct and report on the investigation into the Allfirst treasury losses.
