Figures released by the Administrative Office of US Courts last week confirm almost 1.5m bankruptcy filings in the US in 2001, an increase of 19% on the previous year and the worst in US history.
Although the majority of filings related to individuals, business failures of 40,099 in 2001 represented a 13% increase over 2000.
