German business confidence figures rose for the 4th consecutive month in February to 88.7 points from 86.3 points in January.
The figures give rise to a belief that Germany is close to an economic turning point.
The German Finance Ministry confirmed Monday that it expected the economy to grow by 3% next year.
Meanwhile the news from the US was not as hot. The latest confidence index from the Conference Board, a New York based private research group, show that US consumer sentiment had dipped to 94.1 points in February, down from January's revised figure of 97.8 points.
