Enron Executives May Have To Pay

Enron executives remain thwarted in their attempts to get a federal bankruptcy court to order the company insurers to pay out funds for their own legal costs.

Judge Arthur J Gonzalez declined Wednesday to rule on the matter, instead believing that it was not his place to tell insurers how to settle claims.

At issue is whether the executives are able to claim out of the corporate insurance for fiduciary liability and associated coverage.

Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services, the lead insurer, had previously confirmed that it had no wish to make payments without the sanction of the court.
