Deloitte To Separate Functions

John Connolly, the senior partner of the British arm of Deloitte & Touche, is believed to have met with advisers at Credit Suisse First Boston and Goldman Sachs to discuss plans to separate it's accounting and consulting businesses.

The move by Deloitte's has been prompted by rival Andersen's much critised role in the Enron affair, where it is alledged that questionnable accounting practices were tolerated to ensure the security of lucrative consultantcy work.

The flotation of Deloitte Consulting is one possibility, although the market appetite for a listing of this nature is not strong at present.
