Enron's Jeff Skilling Not To Blame

Jeff Skilling was Chief Executive Officer at Enron until August 2001. He left after making a fortune during his career at the corporate and 4 months later it collapsed and became the biggest bankruptcy in US history.

Skilling, 48, was regarded by many as the very embodiment of the Enron culture, an environment where risk-taking, deal-doing and thinking outside the box were encouraged.

Yet in a recent TV interview on CNN's 'Larry King Live', Skilling was adamant that he bore no responsibility for the demise of the former energy giant. Instead, he merely confirmed that Andersen, Enron's former accountant, and Vinson & Elkin, the company lawyer, approved the controversial partnerships which brought about the downfall of the group.

Skilling told King, 'I believe that, given the information that we had at the time, and the data that we had at the time, I think that we made the right decisions.'
