JP Morgan In Court Move

A New York judge refused to provide summary judgment on whether JP Morgan insurers should pay out in respect of claims made relating to losses incurred by the bank due to it's relationship with failed energy giant Enron.

The bank's insurers are reluctant to settle without sanction of the court as no pay-out would be required if the underlying transactions proved to be loans made by JP Morgon to Enron.

The claims appear to relate to offshore transactions totalling almost $1bn which are highly technical in nature.

JP Morgan were hoping for quick resolution to the problem, but will now need to proceed to trial on December 2nd.
