Lehman May Invest In Woori

US investment bank Lehman Brothers are thought to be considering an investment of $1bn in South Korean government-owned banking group Woori Financial.

Lehman are believed to be considering a deal which will give them a 50% share in the group's asset management businesses and a 10% stake in the banking arm.

With South Korea's banking sector returning to profitability last year for the first time since 1997, a move by Lehman does not seem unrealistic. The South Korean government are known to be looking to reduce their 30% stake in the sector.
