Goldman Beefs Up Research

Ever since Goldman Sachs finished a lowly seventh in the prestigious Institutional Investor magazine poll last year, the investment bank has been looking to hire key personnel to improve the reputation and credibility of it's research capabilities.

Last month the firm hired in ex-Merrill executive Andrew Melnick to head up the global investment research group. Now Goldman have taken on ex-Salomon Smith Barney analyst Robert Koort, from Deutsche Bank, to cover specialty chemicals.

More high profile analyst hires are expected in the near future.
