Fidelity Ditches American Express

posted: 10 years ago

During the course of the last few weeks American Express Financial Advisors has enticed away four well regarded stock pickers from rival Fidelity Investments in the US. The four employees will start up a competitor office in Fidelity's hometown, Boston.

Fidelity, the largest US fund manager, played down the departures claiming that they retained strength in depth in the area.

They now appear to have retaliated by axing American Express corporate cards. Fidelity staff will now have to use a rival card for travel and corporate charges.

Fidelity deny that they have responded to the loss of staff in this way and a spokesperson confirmed that they 'periodically make reviews of our agreements and from time to time, we make decisions to change them.'
