Kapur will continue to be based in Hong Kong and is believed to be bringing with him two former collegues at Morgan Stanley, vice president Narendra Singh and analyst Elaine Chu. He will be managing director and head of Asia Pacific regional stragety research.
The former Morgan Stanley man will report into the Salomon head of Asia Pacific equity research, Otto Wong. Wong is also based in the former British colony.

Salomon Smith Barney announced Wednesday the hire of top equity strategist Ajay Kapur from Morgan Stanley.
