Wall St Giants Paid To Stay

New York state and city officials are keen to keep as many companies as possible in Lower Manhatten after the terrorists attacks on September 11th destroyed and damaged buildings and business units. Over 30,000 employees were forced to relocate to New Jersey and Connecticut. New York wants them back,

It is now believed that grants will be available to some of the largest financial companies in the world to encourage them to stay in the area. The funds will come from a $500m federal aid budget allocation.

Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, American Express and Bank of New York are possible beneficiaries.
