Halifax Boss Joins Million £ Club

Chief Executive of the Halifax, James Crosby, was awarded a 56% pay rise last year and joined the £1m plus club of UK chief executives.

Crosby's 2001 pay was £1,073,000, which included a bonus of £495,000. He took just £690,000 the year before.

Deputy Chairman Peter Burt saw his remuneration increase 46% in 2001 to £994,000.

The Halifax, the UK's fifth largest bank, justified the increases on the basis that the bank's share price performed around 10% better than its peer group of companies.
