CNN Anchor And Andersen Link

Lou Dobbs is the anchor of CNN's successful 'Moneyline' program. He is also non-executive chairman of an internet business, Space Holdings Inc. During the course of the unraveling of the Enron affair, Mr Dobbs has been outspoken in his views that the Justice Department is unfairly punishing Andersen employees by indicting the firm. It has now been revealed that Andersen is auditor to Space Holdings and that Mr Dobbs may have been paid by the firm to speak at Andersen-sponsored events.

Mr Dobbs is unrepentant that he did not reveal the Andersen link to viewers, claiming no conflict of interest. He has stated that 'Space Holdings pays Andersen, not the other way around.'

He is also known to frequently donate speaking fees to charity.

A CNN spokeman also confirmed that the network was in no way concerned about the connection and appeared to agree with Mr Dobbs' views.

Mr Dobbs is guilty of nothing. He has nothing to hide. But he has worked in the news business long enough to know what makes a good story. In hindsight, he would have been better served by informing viewers about his relationhip with the troubled auditing firm. Nobody would have cared.
