Accenture Suffers

Accenture, the management consultancy that spun off from Andersen in 2000, can have no regrets that it parted with the accounting firm when it did. But, to date, 2002 has been a tough year.

The firm has now revealed a sharp fall in profits, which can be attributed to a significant write-off charge of $212m for ditching failed investments.

Net revenues for the first three months of this year came in at $10.6m, down sharply from $80.9m one year before. Revenues remained more or less unchanged at $2.9bn.

Accenture remains confident about the immediate prospects for its core consulting business.
