As a result of the deal, Deutsche will distribute Amvescap's products to its 12 million European clients. The bank will continue to market its own funds.
It is believed to be more profitable for Deutsche to market the products than to try to manufacture them.
The move may well herald similar strategic alliances amongst financial institutions as the competition for funds increases and costs escalate.
