A lot depends on whether the courts determine that Andersen truly was a global partnership. In the event that US claims against the firm remain unsettled and the court rules that the business was a global partnership, former UK partners could face claims on their assets.
At present there are two parties seeking damages from Andersen, one of which accuses the firm of securities fraud in respect of its dealings with Enron.

The UK tie-up between Andersen and Deloitte & Touche is believed to be unlikely to protect Andersen's UK partners from potential liabilty from claims resulting from the downfall of former energy giant Enron.
