Giuliani To Help Merrill

Rudy Giuliani, former major of New York City, has now been hired by Merrill Lynch as an outside adviser to help with the firm's negotiations with New York state attorney general Eliot Spitzer.

Spitzer has claimed that Merrill has issued biased stock research which has misled investors and caused financial loss. He is demanding compensation and has already got agreement from Merrill to change its research procedures.

Guiliana is thought to have been working behind the scenes for Merrill and has had a long association with the firm since his days as a US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
