$100m Scandal At Former Andersen Client

US technology firm Peregrine Systems released Andersen as auditor last month and switched to KPMG. The company has now revealed that it is conducting an internal inquiry into possible discrepancies thought to be as much as $100m.

Peregrine's chairman and chief executive, Stephen Gardner, and chief financial officer Matthew Gless, have both resigned.

There is little other information available at this stage and no formal criticisms have been made of Andersen.

Peregrine is delaying the release of its fourth quarter earnings and does not know if it will be able to file its annual report on time with the US Securities & Exchange Commission.

It appears that the problems were highlighted by KPMG when it recently took over audit responsibilities from Andersen.
