Deutsche Cuts Ops And IT Roles

Star.com has reported that Deutsche Bank is to fire up to 130 staff in operations and information technology in Asia as the German bank attempts to rein in costs.

The online news service quotes Karen Bell, Deutsche Bank's Asia Pacific chief information officer for global technology and operations as confirming that the cuts were underway and that headcount will be lost in 13 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Bell is quoted as saying: 'As part of Deutsche Bank's global cost reduction programme, the decision has been made to reduce staff numbers by approximately 130 in our technology and operations support orgainization.'

Deutsche is already believed to have earmarked the elimination of 9,200 jobs globally, around 9% of its workforce. Some analysts expect the bank to cut up to 6,000 additional positions.
