Deutsche Boss Dismisses London Move

posted: 10 years ago

Outgoing Deutsche chairman Rolf Breuer dismissed the possibility of the bank moving its headquarters from Frankfurt to London.

Speaking for the last time as chairman at the bank's AGM in Frankfurt, Breuer said: 'We are convinced our German roots and our home base in Europe's biggest economy are a strong competitive advantage....We never intended to and do not intend to relocate our domicile.'

In a related story, Breuer also revealed that he received £5.07m in salary, bonuses and share options in 2001 and he promised shareholders that Deutsche would in future publish individual earnings of all its board members in its annual report.

Breuer claimed that his remuneration was modest in comparison with his peers in the US. He remarked that the boss at Citigroup, Sandy Weill, took £23.5m last year.
