Merrill Calls Urgent Meeting

Bloomberg reports that executives from Merrill Lynch are soon to meet with UK pension fund clients in an effort to allay their fears following the departure of six high profile fund managers.

Merrill, which manages around £64bn for UK pension funds, is in danger of being knocked off its number one position by rivals like Barclays Global Investors.

The firm has now lost around $3bn in funds since last December as clients have continued to leave the firm, unhappy about investment performance and the departure of several key employees.
