Ex-Lehman Broker Jailed

The New York Times reports that a former vice president at Lehman Bothers and Paine Webber has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to securities fraud.

Enrique Pe-rusquia, 48, pleaded guilty to a fraud which cheated a client out of $68m.

The former broker admitted in February to Judge Claudia Wilkin of the United States District Court that he had illegally skimmed $39m from a client into gold mining companies between 1992 and 1998 in exchange for kickbacks and other things. He also admitted to secretly investing funds in American Resource and a subsidiary in exchange for cash commissions of $1.3m.

The client has not been identified.
