AIB Shareholder Sues

The Sunday Business Post Online reports that a shareholder in Allied Irish Banks is suing current and former executives of Maryland subsidiary Allfirst for the $691m lost by rogue trader John Rusnak.

Maryland company Tomran Inc has now filed suit against Allfirst chief executive Susan Keating, former chairman Frank Bramble and David Cronin, the former treasurer who was fired for his role in the affair.

Tomran claims that 'abdication of responsibility' by the bank's officers and directors made it possible for Rusnak to damage the firm and cause enormous losses.

All parties sued are expected to defend themselves vigorously against the claims.
