Wasserstein Gears Up

Bloomberg reports that Lazard chief executive Bruce Wasserstein is now attempting to rebuild his bank's presence in the US.

With the downturn in the M & A market, there are currently a number of high profile and well-connected investment bankers looking for new opportunities. Lazard has just hired two such animals to help with its profile in the States.

Marko Remec, who headed US industrial mergers at Morgan Stanley, has now been named a Lazard managing director. Richard Kradjel, who headed up East Coast private placements at CSFB, will also come in at managing director level to leverage up on his strong business contacts.

Wasserstein, who has advised on mergers worth over $250m during his 20 years on Wall Street, is using his own personal appeal and reputation to bring fresh blood to Lazard.
