Schroders Apologizes

Bloomberg reports that Schroders Plc officials have now apologized to Govett Investment Management for saying that they would target some of its customers.

Nick McEvoy, a Govett fund manager, has confirmed that senior members of Schroders had contacted his firm to apologize for aggressively stalking investors in Govett Strategic Investment Trust.

Money telegraph reports that Andrew Brough, a fund manager at Schroders UK mid-250 trust told Govett's institutional shareholders at a meeting last week: 'We are prepared to take over the management of the fund in Schroders' name, or they can roll their money into our trust......We are better fund managers than them.'

The attempted grab by Schroders has been described as 'cheap' and 'irresponsible' by McEvoy. It is not the kind of behaviour usually associated with the blue-blooded Schroders name.
