Double Pay - No Experience Necessary

The Guardian reports that Louise Barton, who has taken former employer Investec Henderson Crothwaithe, before a tribunal claiming sexual discrimination, has said that she was forced to step in to warn a collegue against recommending certain stocks during the so-called media-boom. The employee, Mathew Horsman, is believed to have been paid £2.1m by his firm over 4 years, more than twice as much as Ms Barton.

Ms Barton claimed that Horsman published a 'buy' recommendation on Sportsworld, a TV firm 'when it was on the brink of receivership.'

Several City experts were called before the tribunal and confirmed that Ms Barton was a 'fantasic analyst'. Some questionned Horseman's analytical abilities.

Lawyers for Investec claim that Mr Horseman's value to them was his high public profile. Horseman was a former journalist with no prior experience as an analyst.

Ms Barton is claiming discrimination, bias and constructive dismissal.
