Ex-Lehman Staffer In Mexican Drug Case

The Guardian reports that a former vice-president at Lehman Brothers appeared in court last week accused of helping a Mexican drug baron launder £20m obtained from cocaine smuggling.

Consuelo Marquez, 39, is accused of laundering money through accounts in Wall Street and elsewhere for one of Mexico's 'most powerful and violent cocaine networks.'

A spokesman for Lehman has said that Ms Marquez was sacked from the firm 18 months ago, as soon as the accusations surfaced.

Catherine Foti, Marquez's lawyer, told the New York Times that her client 'would like to state that she is innocent of all charges, and looks forward to being exonerated.'
