The Weekend: Take it Off

British Shakespeare Company

The weekend is all about leisure. Make the most of it with your clothes on or off, at a castle, at a country club, in Bray, Arundel Castle or hey, in a campervan.

Strip

The Starker's Naked Disco is tonight at Club Life in Vauxhall. You have to wear shoes, but the staff is also naked, they have a concealed smoking area, and apparently it's 'surprisingly asexual'. The next club nights will be on the 17th of August and the 18th of September - in case you need to work up your courage (or go on that diet).

Eat (More)

Once companies become big enough, they officially shorten their names. BP. FedEx. AOL. Once restaurants become big enough, they drop their à la carte menu and only offer a £130 tasting menu of 12 courses. But since it's The Fat Duck, we're sure you won't be let down. Unless you can't afford it, of course.

Motor

This next week sees the fourth annual Salon Privé, taking place at the Hurlingham Club. If you haven't been, it's like a garden party with gorgeous cars, a ladies' day, a ball, and a few other events at which champagne will be drunk and non-members will have access to the Club.

Go

Need some inspiration on how to maximise your leisure time? Visit the British Leisure Show, this weekend at the Royal Windsor Racecourse. Boats & watersports, cars & bikes, extreme sports (along with caravans, campervans, motorhomes). Although we do support their M.O. - encourage people to get active and get healthy, and having fun doing it.

Book

It's time to book those tickets to the British Shakespeare Company's weekend at Arundel Castle in West Sussex. Your choices are Much Ado About Nothing (27-28 Aug) or A Midsummer Night's Dream (29 Aug), and you can get there by train, grounds open at 5:30 for picnics, and the performance starts at 7:30.

Five of the Best

Things we love, things we want, things we want to do, and things we think are just cool, interesting, or at least noteworthy.

  1. Just a reminder to get your order into Lola's Kitchen for cupcake delivery on the 14th.
  2. The DWS Menswear Sale starts this Friday at 10am. Yes, men, we recommend you go at lunch, or at least after work.
  3. And now something totally unrelated to American football: a motorised surfboard! Awesome, dude.
  4. Yes! We, too, thought these chalkboard Matryoshkas were hilarious and cute.
  5. Looking for a V-Day gift for your whiskey drinking man? Tullamore Dew, Ireland's second largest whiskey brand, is releasing a 12-year old reserve to the UK market for the first time.
