Miss Wrong Needs a Fix

posted: 2 years ago

Family Constellations Čestmír Štuka

The Soul Sister encounters a woman who has had enough. She's analyzed, considered and tried, but she still goes for the wrong guy. What next?

Dear Soul Sister

I am so appalled to realise that I keep repeating my ridiculous relationship patters over and over and ending up with Mr Wrong after Mr Wrong. I know Mr Right is out there, but I’m not finding him because I am stuck. Stuck! I've had therapy. I've read books. At this point, I’ll try anything. Any suggestions, especially radical ones, are welcome.

Over It

Dear Over It

You are not alone in trying to understand why you do something, then finding you just do it again. This is very common - our head and our heart work differently - and it’s the heart that wins in the end.

If you feel you’d like to try something a bit different, consider Constellation Theory. In a nutshell, it’s a group session where people represent your family, and through the exercises, you gain insight into your unresolved issues. (Read more about it here.)

As always, you have to be careful in choosing with whom to work - as you do with all therapy.
Try to find a UKCP or BAC registered person with a lot of experience.

I can recommend, Gayle Donaldson, who has been doing constellations since 1997. Another practitioner I know of, Carol Siederer, sometimes uses dolls instead of people, which is less dramatic, but can be very effective. She also runs more traditional workshops.

Good luck. Mr Right is worth the effort!
