Luckily nobody was seriously injured, (just their wallets).
In the multiple luxury car pile up on Sunday on the Chugoku Expressway just outside Hiroshima, Japan, a 60 year old Ferrari driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle while overtaking on the wet expressway, hitting the central reservation and then catapulting back across the road into on coming traffic. A convoy of on-coming luxury cars then collied when attempting to avoid a collision with the Ferrari.
'A group of cars was doing 140-160 kilometres (85-100 miles) per hour. One of them spun and they all ended up in this great mess', an unidentified male eyewitness told the TBS network. The speed limit on that section of the highway is said to be 80 kilometres per hour (50mph).
'I've never seen such a thing', highway patrol lieutenant Eiichiro Kamitani told AFP by telephone, 'Ferraris rarely travel in such large numbers'. Now we know why.
