The Royal Bank of Scotland plc ('RBS') is pleased to announce the appointment of AJ Davidson as Managing Director and Head of Hybrid Capital in London. He will have regional coverage responsibility for EMEA and APAC.

The Hybrid Capital team is responsible for structuring, originating and executing hybrid capital products for financial institutions (banks and insurance companies), as well as for corporate and public sector issuers. Davidson joins the Financial Institutions Structured Finance team headed by Lee Rochford.

Davidson previously worked at Citibank’s Debt Capital Markets New Products Group, where he was a director from 2010. Between 2006 and joining Citibank, he was a director in Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s DCM Execution and Structuring Group. Before that, he spent eight years as a capital markets and corporate finance lawyer in private practice with firms Sidley & Austin and Linklaters. Davidson is a dual qualified UK solicitor and US attorney.

'AJ brings considerable structuring, execution and client expertise to the team', said Rochford. 'This appointment reflects our commitment and ability to invest in areas that are core to our franchise, and where there is scope for considerable growth over the coming years. With constantly evolving regulation, shifting investor demands and focus by our clients on the strengthening and optimisation of their capital structure and balance sheet, we believe that investing in the hybrid capital market offers substantial opportunities for RBS'.
