While many fans feel Arsenal should have been signing strikers, full-backs, and full internationals, Arsene Wenger stayed strong to his beliefs and faith in youth.
Thomas Eisfeld becomes the latest to join the production line of stars at the Emirates. Here are five facts about him...
1) Eisfeld is a midfielder who the club say showed 'significant promise' at the Borussia Dortmund academy, and has been at the German club for seven years, captaining the under 15s team.
2) Now 19, at youth level this season he has scored six goals and provided six assists in 12 appearances, guaranteeing a goal per game.
3) He said one of his idols growing up was Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky who signed for Arsenal from Dortmund in 2006. He hopes now for the opportunity to play alongside him.
4) He has overcome a career-threatening injury already, suffering cruciate ligament damage in 2009.
5) The playmaker was out of contract in the summer and Arsenal paid just £420,000 for his signature and he hopes to go onto become a full German international.
