None of this utilitarian stuff. Nothing portable. And definitely not anything made by rubber or plastic, or worse, beige. I want metal. But I have no idea what's out there, so I figured I'd bring you along on my search.
RealSimple.com, natch, has a gallery of 13 options. Perhaps not worth considering, but at least worth noting, is this Copper Hose Storage Pot. Who knew such a thing existed? However, I want mine on the side of the house and off the ground. (And I suppose if I was going this route, I'd want this vintage looking pot.)
The oft-ignored minimalist in me likes this Real Simple option best: the practically named Rust Proof Hose Hanger from YardButlerStore.com. It's so plain, but in this case, less might be more. And for less than a US tenner? It's going on the short list.
Further investigation leads me to the discovery that garden hose holders are a sculptors' favourite, with several options here (in lizard motif), here (in quail motif) and here. Definitely not for me.
Much more ornate but kind of nice is this wheel holder from Whitehall.
There's even a super tasteless but still kind of funny garden hose holder called the Happy Guy Hose Holder. (If you can't imagine what that looks like, click here.) Also on Etsy.com is a super adorable Heart Garden Hose Reel Holder. Way too cutsey for me, but you kind of have to, um, heart it.
I've now scrolled through hundreds of images on Google, and checked out dozens of options. The only other one I kind of like is this Bronze Wall Mount Garden Hose Holder, but really, I'd prefer it in brushed nickel.
The result? I'm over it, and going with the simple $10 option. It's my style, it'll do the job, and it increases my shoe budget a little bit. Which in this new house, is feeling a bit pinched...
