Greg Smith Said After Book Deal, Fabulous Fab In Rwanda

Here's two quick items with a Goldman connection.

The New York Times reports that Greg Smith, the former Goldman employee who resigned in spectacular fashion last week by blasting the firm in an Op-Ed page article in the newspaper, is now said to be shopping a book proposal to major publishers in New York.

According to the newspaper's sources, Smith, who was Goldman Sachs’s United States equity derivatives sales business in EMEA (a one-man team), has met with publishers this week, including imprints at several prominent houses.

Finally, Bloomberg reports that Goldman executive director Fabrice Tourre ('fabulous' Fab), who is accused of defrauding investors in a CDO known as Abacus 2007-AC1, has been doing volunteer work in Rwanda and started a US doctorate program while awaiting trial in a government fraud suit his bank settled for $550m.

Tourre, 33, is currently on unpaid leave from the Wall Street firm.
