As Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cariparma Crédit Agricole since 2010, Maioli is a member of the Crédit Agricole S.A. Executive Committee. He is replacing Ariberto Fassati (Crédit Agricole S.A. Group Director for Italy since 2005), who remains Chairman of Cariparma.
As Country Manager, Maioli is Crédit Agricole S.A.’s representative in Italy. This position has been created in countries in which a number of the Group’s business lines are present in order to ensure better coordination, create synergies and identify market developments. This cross-functional role concerns primarily cross-commercial development, optimisation of resources and costs, support for new business lines and representation of Crédit Agricole S.A.’s Executive Management among local authorities.
Italy is the Crédit Agricole Group’s second-largest domestic market, representing 16% of Crédit Agricole S.A.’s net banking income in 2010, a contribution to Group net income of around 20% in 2010 and 15% of Crédit Agricole S.A.’s workforce.
Present in retail banking in Italy via the Cariparma Crédit Agricole group (with the Cariparma, FriulAdria and Carispezia brands), Crédit Agricole is also present in all of its other business lines: investment banking (CACIB) consumer finance (Agos Ducato and FGA Capital), asset management (Amundi), insurance (CA Vita, Crédit Agricole Assicurazioni, Crédit Agricole Crédit Insurance) and leasing and factoring (Crédit Agricole Leasing and Crédit Agricole Commercial Finance).
Giampiero Maioli began his career in 1979 at Credito Emiliano, then moving to Chemical Bank. In 1992, he joined Cariparma e Piacenza, firstly as head of the division formed from Credito Commerciale, and then as head of marketing, before joining the sales department. He was made deputy CEO in 2003 and then Chief Executive Officer of the bank in 2007 in charge of lending and commercial activities.
Maioli has been Executive Director of Cariparma Crédit Agricole since 2010. Aged 55, he holds a degree in economics.
