But as impressive as his displays for Manchester City and England have been recently, it's his performance off the pitch at Euro 2012 that has caught my eye. Has ever such a young man (25 years old and going into his first major international tournament guaranteed to be in the team) been so composed in front of the cameras ?
Hart has put in impressive performances when hauled before the media - passionate, and articulate, getting the tone absolutely right. He has quickly established himself as a model professional and is proof that some footballers do have brains. A future England captain in the making (despite being a goalkeeper), Hart can become the role model the English national team surely needs.
Congratulations to Joe Hart, and well done to the likes of Roy Hodgson who has put his faith in him both between the sticks and in front of the microphone.
