Tottenham News Round-Up - AVB, Luka Modric, Jonas Olsson, Jan Vertonghen

André Villas Boas

Andre Villas-Boas has rejected recent reports linking him with the vacant manager's job at Tottenham as 'lies'.

Sky Sports reports that the former Chelsea boss is the odds-on favourite to be appointed at White Hart Lane following the shock departure of Harry Redknapp earlier this month.

Widespread reports suggested the Portuguese was the leading choice of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy as the north London club look to secure regular Champions League football.

In the meantime, The Metro reports that Tottenham look set to lose midfielder Luka Modric after he reportedly agreed a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Croatia international's future has been the subject of much debate, as he has been strongly linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea.

But it seems it is Jose Mourinho who has won the race for his signature, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

And The Daily Mirror reports that West Brom have hinted they may force Tottenham target Jonas Olsson to run down the final year of his contract rather than sell him this summer.

Olsson is due to have talks with the Baggies over his future following Sweden's elimination from Euro 2012 earlier this week.

Finally, Inside Futbol reports that negotiations between Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur over defender Jan Vertonghen are deadlocked.
