Khan was knocked down three times as Garcia claimed the British fighter's WBA title and held onto his WBC belt.
Early on the fight looked to be favouring Khan; however, he was floored in the third by a counter and could not recover from shots in round four. It is the third defeat of Khan's career and comes after his disputed loss to Lamont Peterson.
One thing Amir Khan must stop attempting to do, is glorify his name by making ridiculous statements and suggesting he should move up division and fight the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
‘King’ Khan was coming off the hands of a defeat, although Lamont Peterson's victory has been marred by failing a drugs test.
Khan looked too far ahead of his current fight, like he did against Peterson and the result proved the same.
He dismissed suggestions that he should retire and is still only 25. He said: "I'm not talking about retiring, I'm still young, and I’ve got a lot in me. I’m still hungry and ill come back a lot better and a lot stronger’’
What next for Khan? Khan has hinted that he will re-evaluate his strategy with newly appointed hall of fame coach, Freddie Roach.
If Khan does remove Roach from his team, this would be a huge mistake. Don’t forget it was Roach who took Khan under his wing following his shock first round KO against Breidis Prescott.
3 defeats is damaging to any fighter, however, Khan only has to look at his fellow stable mate. Pound for pound king, Manny Pacquiao who has lost 4 times.
I for one, hope Khan comes back stronger following this defeat and becomes a 3 time world champion, however, the road looks long and difficult.
He should look to fight more in Britain to build his confidence and go back to basics. A perfect match up would be against Kell Brook.
Where do you think Khan should go from here?
