Abu-Bakarr Kargbo is a 19-year-old striker, who can also play wide on the left.
He is on trial with the club at present and started tonight for a West Brom XI in a friendly away to non-league Tamworth.
The XI was comprised of a mixture of youth players, trialists and some senior players, with the main squad currently on pre-season in Sweden.
West Brom lost 1-0 with Kargbo playing 63 minutes.
Stoke City, Celtic and Fulham are reported to have had scouts at the game, and there are believed to be a number of other Premier League clubs interested.
Kargbo was born in Sierra Leone but moved to Germany aged seven.
He played last season for Hertha Berlin's youth side, and is hoping to earn a move to the Premier League.
He rejected a new contract at Berlin after they were relegated from the Bundesliga and West Brom have used that opportunity to bring him over and take a look at him close hand.
