Arsenal

A round up of everything and anything happening at Arsenal in the past 24 hours.

New signing Olivier Giroud has claimed he is confident he will be a success at Arsenal this season and for many to come. After firing underdogs Montpellier to Ligue 1 supremacy last season. He sees a lot of similarities in the current Arsenal team and feels a similar feat is not beyond Arsenal in the upcoming Premier League campaign.

More news on the transfers of Santi Cazorla and Nuri Sahin courtesy of BBC Sport who feel the deals are imminent. Santi Cazorla has been Arsenal’s main transfer target of the last few weeks but a considerable mire of red tape involving his current club Malaga’s financial crisis. He will complete a medical this week and has his heart set on a move to The Emirates. Nuri Sahin was once one of Europe’s brightest prospects but has seen his career stall since signing for Real Madrid. Now the midfield player is expected to sign on loan for the Gunners and will provide cover as Arsenal have several players in that position who are extremely injury prone.

One of a considerable amount of promising young Gunners at the Emirates has signed a new deal in the past 24 hours. London24 report that versatile Nico Yennaris, who prefers a centre midfield role but has been mostly used as a left back in his handful of appearances in the first team. Despite being awarded a new contract as early as November he has obviously caught the eye of Arsene Wenger during pre-season and has been rewarded with a new contract justly.

An Arsenal XI made up of some of their most promising youngsters such as Ignasi Miquel, Craig Eastmond, Chuks Aneke and Thomas Eisfeld were defeated in a friendly against non-league Dartford. Despite, predictably for an Arsenal side, controlling possession they went down to goal from Harry Crawford at Princes Park. Serge Gnabry came close before Sanchez Watt slotted home a penalty on the brink of halftime. But a misguided backpass from Sead Hajrovic allowed Ryan Hayes to grab Dartford a hard fought win, report Goal.com.

Whilst The Mirror have highlighted the potential collapse of any deal involving Robin Van Persie to Italian champions Juventus. RVP is not keen on a move to the club, after it became clear their head coach Antonio Conte would face a lengthy ban from the sport for failing to report match-fixing whilst manager of Siena. RVP is now reportedly only considering a move to either of the Manchester clubs.
