Transfer Talk: Featuring Cole and Rondon

posted: 10 months ago

Ashley Cole

Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur are the talk of the papers today.

All the transfer news and gossip you need to know from the last 24 hours...

The rumours about Ashley Cole leaving Chelsea continue to persist, but thankfully it is at least not another face - palm link with Manchester United being mooted. A far more logical move to big spending PSG is being suggested, where he would re-unite with former boss Carlo Ancelotti. Even though Cole has just one year left on his contract we still doubt Chelsea will let him leave, after all they let Drogba's contract wind down, and Cole has plenty to offer, but the club have not offered him a renewed deal as yet.

Malaga's financial mess has been well documented in recent days, with the Santi Cazorla to Arsenal saga a hot topic. The Mirror report that Tottenham are ready to launch a raid of their own, to sign Salomon Rondon. Spurs want to pay a bargain £5 million for the striker but Malaga want double that. The Venezuelan is also coveted by both Chelsea and Arsenal, and this is one to watch over the coming days.

Manchester City want to sign a new defender, and while Daniel Agger has been linked over the last 24 hours, the freshest name mooted with a move is Nicolas N'Koulou. The Cameroon international plays for Marseille and is also interesting AC Milan and Barcelona, and is just 22.

A surprise name linked with a move away from Newcastle is full-back Davide Santon. The Mail say he had a disappointing campaign last season but we beg to differ, he earned his spot at left-back ahead of Ryan Taylor and proved his doubters wrong by defying his injury problems suffered at Inter. He is being linked with a return back to Italy with Lazio and last week said he was happy in the North East.

And finally, it looks as though Everton are finally going to get Joseph Yobo off their books. He has spent the past two seasons on loan in Turkey with Fenerbahce, and reports last night revealed the Nigerian defender is in talks with Fener about making his move there permanent.
