Five heroes of the Premier League's opening weekend

Chelsea, Swansea City, Fulham, Manchester City, and Reading stars feature on our list.

It is a tough job trying to narrow down the top five 'heroes' after an exciting weekend of Premier League action, but we've given it a go. Here are our top five in no particular order...

Eden Hazard

There were a whole host of doubters ready to pounce on any slip ups made by Chelsea' £32 million signing, as evidenced by his lacklustre display in the Community Shield last weekend. It took just two minutes for Eden Hazard to make an impact at the DW Stadium, setting up a goal for Branislav Ivanovic. He then won a penalty which Frank Lampard scored and from then on in Chelsea were in cruise control. There will be tougher tasks ahead for the Belgian, but he passed this one with ease.

Mladen Petric

Free signing Mladen Petric picked up where he left off in pre-season for Fulham where he scored six times. He netted two on his Premier League debut against Norwich to leave fans asking 'Clint who?'. The Croatian is already looking like one of the best signings of the summer and the future looks bright for Martin Jol's side. Petric later provided an assist for youngster Alex Kacaniklic to net his first league goal, making the afternoon an even more satisfactory one for the debutant.

Michu

Midfielder Michu wears the number nine shirt for Swansea, and he showed just why he deserves it by turning in a goalscoring display for the club on his debut. He scored twice and hit the woodwork, and he looks to be a real bargain. He was the top scoring midfielder in La Liga last year, and he has made the perfect start to his Premier League career.

Samir Nasri

At the end of last season it was striker Sergio Aguero providing the star turn and hitting the winner in a 3-2 victory, this time it was Nasri's turn. The Frenchman also provided the pass for Carlos Tevez to hit the opener, and was lively all afternoon. With David Silva failing to shine, Nasri's star turn showed everything about his progress in the past year and how he has become a leader on the pitch and a real matchwinner.

Adam Le Fondre

Adam Le Fondre's coolly taken 90th minute penalty belied the pressure of the situation being applied on the striker. Miss, and the day of thousands of Reading fans was ruined, score, and his side gain an all important first Premier League point of the season. Fortunately for the Royals and the man himself he hit the back of the net to score what he will hope will be the first of many this campaign.
