Tottenham are finally making their first moves in the transfer market since early July, having finally wrapped up the deal for Emmanuel Adebayor last night. The Mail reports they are eyeing a double swoop for Brazilians Willian and Leandro Damiao. Willian is a winger and attacking midfielder who plays for Shakhtar Donetsk and who is keen on a move to the Premier League, regularly linked with a move to Chelsea and Andre Villas-Boas is a fan. The 24-year-old would cost around £20 million, and the paper reports Spurs are stepping up their efforts to sign Damiao from Internacional having made a formal enquiry earlier this month.
In further Spurs news, the club have accepted a bid for centre-back Michael Dawson from QPR, thought to be for around £7.5 million. Tom Huddlestone's move to Stoke on loan has also been confirmed.
Dawson could partner Ricardo Carvalho who is reported to have agreed a loan switch to QPR, according to reports this morning.
QPR are in the market for a new goalkeeper already, following Rob Green's clanger at the weekend. The Mirror report they are in talks with free agent Artur Boruc over a move to Loftus Road. The former Celtic goalkeeper and Poland international is 32 and left Fiorentina this summer.
Newcastle right-back Danny Simpson has emerged as a surprise target for Espanyol. Simpson started Newcastle's match at the weekend but is still to agree terms of a new contract with the club. The 25-year-old will be free to negotiate with clubs regarding a summer move next year from January.
Newcastle meanwhile are said to be interested in Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho, report ESPN. The defender has previously been linked with Manchester United. They will face competition on the continent from both Napoli and Valencia. The 24-year-old is keen to move and would cost around £7 million.
Chelsea's on-off move for a striker continues, with the Mail reporting they are to launch one last bid to try to sign Edinson Cavani from Napoli, offering £35 million for the striker. In one of the never-ending sagas of the summer, the club are refusing to give up on a move for Hulk, and Chelsea officials are to meet with both Porto and Napoli to negotiate in the coming days.
Meanwhile the Metro reported last night that Liverpool's move for Gaston Ramirez could be re-ignited. Southampton had been the favourites to sign the Uruguayan midfielder but their move appears to have stalled with Bologna yet to accept an offer for the player. Liverpool are keen on the player and the paper report that the Reds may now be tempted to renew their efforts to sign the talented playmaker. However this morning The Sun claimed Southampton are still hopeful of sealing a deal.
