As Luka Modric finally puts pen to paper and completes his summer long transfer to Real Madrid for a reported £33 million the news on the Tottenham landscape is undoubtedly dominated by potential ways they can use that money with several players being linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
The Guardian report that Andre Villas Boas has now reinvigorated his interest for Hugo Lloris and Moussa Dembele. The Lloris deal was recently reported as dead but with new cash available it is believed an improved offer may be on the cards with Lloris expected to hold talks with Spurs as soon as possible. Meanwhile Fulham’s versatile Belgian Dembele is considered a perfect option to help reinforce their midfield.
Spurs will also step up their pursuit of Russian attacking midfielder Alan Dzagoev according to The Daily Mail. Interest from London was first reported in July by Dzagoev’s father and after an impressive Euro 2012 he now has many suitors to his signature. It is believed Daniel Levy is happy to fund the deal whilst he has also been in Ukraine to start finalizing a deal for Shakhtar’s Brazilian star Willian. They have seen a first bid rejected for the winger but will return with another one shortly but the consensus is Willian has agreed terms and it is simply a case of agreeing fee’s between the two clubs.
Meanwhile Spurs are also reportedly after another Brazilian in Porto star Hulk claim The Metro. The powerful left-footer’s future will be resolved as of Wednesday with Zenit St Petersburg frontrunners to obtain his signing after agreeing a £40 million fee with the Portuguese side. However Hulk is keen on a move to London with Spurs having the edge considering AVB’s working history with the 26 year old; despite this the Russian side may have priced both Premier League sides out of a deal.
One Brazilian not on his way to White Hart Lane is Leandro Damiao, who it is reported after months of speculation will not leave Internacional until December at the earliest.
Yet ITV understands that Tottenham may be about to utilize their new link with Real Madrid, brokered as part of the Luka Modric deal to help bring in Esteban Granero. The 25 year old midfielder is in the final year of his contract and is keen on a move to London, where Spurs face competition from QPR whilst Swansea are also interested as Michael Laudrup managed the Spaniard at Getafe.
With all this talk of incomings it would be easy to miss Goalkeeper David Button’s departure to Charlton. He joins the Championship side after 7 seasons at the lane in which he has been out on 13 separate loan spells to 11 different clubs. Charlton was not one of those teams.
While wantaway Mexican Gio dos Santos will not have done himself any favours as he seeks to force a move to Serie A, with his agent claiming Spurs are 'holding him hostage'. He hopes to be a deadline day mover.
And finally we take a look at Sunderland's interest in Jermaine Jenas and five Real Madrid players the club should take a look at bringing in.
