Liverpool Deadline Day Transfer Activity So Far

posted: 9 months ago

Charlie Adam 2

Here is a round-up of all the Liverpool action in the transfer market.

Jay Spearing to Bolton

What was initially believed to be a 6-month loan to Bolton has now been confirmed as a season-long loan for Jay Spearing.

The scrappy 5’6ft midfielder started 24 times for Liverpool last season, beginning well but his form deteriorated; in 16 Premiership starts, the 23 year old was on the losing side 11 times.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle now has, at his disposal, another player with proven Premiership quality which will no doubt boost his team’s chances of returning to top flight football sooner rather than later.

Charlie Adam to Stoke

Stoke complete the permanent signing of Charlie Adam after the Scotland international managed just a year at Anfield.

During his time in Liverpool, Adam managed 2 goals and 10 assists which has given Stoke manager Tony Pulis every reason to believe that his addition will contribute to the creativity lacking at the Britannia.

Stoke will be hoping that Adam’s ability as a deadball specialist will help them to a first win of the season against Wigan on Saturday.

Stoke Inquire About Jordan Henderson

SkySportsNews.com reports that Stoke have made an inquiry for the services of the 22 year old.

Henderson has struggled to establish himself as a Liverpool regular but it appears that Brendan Rodgers is reluctant to sell the midfielder as he sees a bright future ahead for him.

Dani Pacheco Could Leave

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that ‘there is possibility Dany will leave on a loan or permanently’.

In a cagey pre-Arsenal press conference in which Rodgers was bombarded with questions regarding Liverpool’s transfer activity, Rodgers admitted to having talked with the young Spaniard about his future at Anfield but is still uncertain as to what will occur between now and the close of the transfer window.

No Huntelaar Arrival

Rodgers has stated outright that there is no chance of Schalke goalscorer Klaas-Jan Huntelaar becoming the solution to Liverpool’s wastefulness in front of goal.

When quizzed about the possibility of signing the Holland international, the Liverpool boss merely replied ‘no’. No more was said on the matter.

Sturridge and Walcott Still Possibilities?

During Rodgers’ latest pre-match conference, he gave slight indications linking the club with the possible acquirement of Daniel Sturridge and Theo Walcott.

Walcott has one year left on his contract and is yet to agree a deal to keep him on longer at the Emirates. Whilst Sturridge has seen himself continually falling further down the pecking order at Chelsea.

Rodgers told reporters ‘I don't want to, out of respect for the other clubs and players, sit and go through every single name that has been linked with Liverpool, or this would be the longest press conference in the world.’

What do you think will happen in the final stages of the window?
