With the transfer window now closed many teams will turn their attentions to the heady list of free agents still available for purchase. Many top names adorn this list but Manchester United look set to take the biggest name of all on trial, in a chance for him to prove his fitness and quality in front of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The man in question is Usain Bolt.
That’s right the multiple Olympian has claimed that Sir Alex has offered him a chance at winning him over in a trial at some point in the near future. The world record holder in both the 100 and 200 metres has just come off the back of an impressive Olympic games where he again proved his talents.
Rio Ferdinand has already leant his support to such a move via his usual favourite medium of Twitter and the Jamaican feels he could contribute to the team.
Never short on confidence it is also hard to realise when Bolt is serious or not; and if this macabre scenario does occur it may be only as a PR stunt but Bolt may not see it that way. He says he is a flying winger with good dribbling skills and he did play a big part in helping Cristiano Ronaldo increase his speed with sprinting drills a few years ago.
If Paul Scholes or Michael Carrick could pop the right balls over the top for him there isn’t a defender in the league, not even the fastest in the form of QPR’s Nedum Onouha, who could keep up with The Bolt.
If you need a reminder of his speed, he can jog 100 metres in less than 10 seconds, here is a reminder of his superhuman talent…
And if you needed a reminder of his multi faceted sporting talents, and I don’t mean his dancing, here he is bowling West Indian cricket superstar Chris Gayle out in a charity cricket game...
It could be a dream move however, a word of warning, despite all his excellent achievements in the world of athletics he has not played international football for Jamaica so doubt he would fit the required quota for a work permit.
If only hey…
