Andrey Arshavin turned down a move to Dynamo Moscow during the final hours of the Russian transfer deadline. The 31-year-old, who is currently out of favour with club and country appears to have made his intentions to remain in England quite clear regardless of whether he is receiving first team football so decided against a move to Dan Petrescu’s ambitious side. A deal to Zenit broke down due to his fractious relationship with Russian fans after an outburst during Euro 2012 whilst a deal to Fulham collapsed due to wage problems. The former Zenit forward will now fight for his place at Arsenal.
Moroccan misfit striker Maraoune Chamakh will not represent his country against Mozambique this week after contracting a mystery virus. He is believed to have stayed in London for treatment but despite various reports it has been confirmed he has not contracted malaria. No recovery time has been placed on the Bordeaux player who has been non-essential so far this term.
Anderlecht defender Chekyou Kouyate claims he could have joined the Gunners this summer. The Senegalese said that despite speaking with Arsene Wenger he elected to stay as he felt a debt to the fans of his Belgian side.
Arsene Wenger believes a loan move to Juventus will do Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner the world of good and has not ruled out the 24 year old having a future at The Emirates. He mentioned his international calibre and recent good form at Euro 201 insisting that Juventus would merely ‘enhance’ the striker before a return to the Gunners.
Arsenal remain confident Bacary Sagna will not be the next big name to leve the club despite his open questioning of their current transfer procedures. The French international, who is currently sidelined with a broken leg, announced his disspointment at the sales of Robin Van Persie and Alex Song this summer and his envy of former team-mates Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri’s Premier League victory. Sagna, whose contract expires in 2014, has not yet been approached by the Gunners about a new deal and there are fears he could move on after their recent transfer activity.
Arsenal’s young prodigy Chuks Aneke has joined Crew Alexandra on a one month youth loan deal in order to get first team professional football. Crewe currently play in League One and it is the 19 year old's third loan spell at that level following deals with Preston and Stevenage last season. Arsenal FC were quick to wish him all the best in his month long adventure.
And finally Arsene Wenger has laid a large proportion of praise at the door of new assistant Steve Bould being the reason behind there faultless defensive start to the campaign. The legendary Arsenal centre back took the role from the retiring Pat Rice at the end of last season and the Arsenal backline has yet to concede a goal this season despite the injury to first choice keeper Wojciech Szscesny.
