Orman joins Henderson from Royal Bank of Scotland where he was head of investment grade strategy and Staelens joins from James Caird Asset Management where he was a senior credit analyst. Pieter joined late in August and Rob will start later in September.
Both have respected long term track records in the global credit markets. Orman has over 22 years experience in the field. He began his career in credit analysis at NatWest Markets in 1990 before joining Royal Bank of Scotland in 1998, where he rose to the position of head of investment grade strategy.
Staelens started his analyst career at Bear Stearns in the leveraged finance and high yield team before moving to CQS (UK), the multi strategy hedge fund, as a senior credit analyst. Pieter’s latest role was at James Caird Asset Management where he was a senior credit analyst for the European high yield strategy team.
Commenting on Orman and Pieter’s appointments, Stephen Thariyan, head of credit at Henderson, says, 'The Henderson fixed income business has delivered excellent performance* for clients and we have been looking at how best to resource the credit team for the future in order to try to sustain this performance and to meet increasing client demand. The available pool of high quality talent has enabled us to select two excellent hires with a good balance of skills from both the buy and sell side'.
*98% of Henderson’s fixed income funds under management, totalling £16.3bn, met or outperformed their benchmarks over three years as at 30 June 2012.
