We asked back in March if Robbie Brady could be a Manchester United star this coming season. He was on loan at Hull at the time but was putting in displays to give great encouragement.
He is yet to make his Manchester United debut but all things considered, it can't be far away.
The winger was called up from the Republic of Ireland's under-21 squad, for who he is the record scorer, into the senior set up for last night's friendly with Oman.
Ireland ran out comfortable winners 4-1 with Brady scoring on his debut in the 22nd minute, a superb controlled volley from the edge of the penalty box.
While it is important not to read too much into one game against a side ranked 92nd in the world, it was a test for Brady and he passed it.
The next one will likely be in the League Cup, where the Red Devils face Newcastle. He has a lot of competition in front of him for the wide positions but Sir Alex Ferguson chose to keep him around rather than loan him out so he is in his thoughts, and will be forcing his way into the reckoning soon if this is anything to go by.
